Other VPS locations

A Malta VPS for light, steady workloads

A Malta VPS from AVANETCO is a Linux server in Valletta with memory, processor cores and disk that are reserved for you and not shared with other customers. We have run hosting since 2010 and offer VPS in 104 countries. Malta is a new addition. The plans and prices are published, but you cannot order yet.

This location makes sense when you need a Maltese IP address and your project moves a modest amount of data. A company website aimed at people on the islands, a small online shop, a staging copy of a live site, a VPN endpoint for a few colleagues or a server that runs scheduled scripts all fit well. It is a poor match for video, large file downloads or anything that pushes a lot of traffic each month. The reason is in the plan table.

Reading the six plans

Every plan gets the same network terms: a 50 Mbps port, 50 GB of monthly transfer and one IP address. What changes from plan to plan is memory, cores and disk.

  • Jupiter ($21): 512 MB of memory, 1 core, 20 GB of disk. Enough for a static site, a small bot or a lightweight proxy.
  • Mars ($31): 1 GB of memory, 1 core, 30 GB of disk. A sensible minimum for WordPress with page caching.
  • Venus ($59): 2 GB, 2 cores, 60 GB. Room for a web server and a database on one machine.
  • Mercury ($83): 4 GB, 2 cores, 80 GB. For busier PHP or Node.js applications that need memory more than CPU.
  • Uranus ($107): 4 GB, 4 cores, 100 GB. Same memory as Mercury with twice the cores, so it fits builds, image processing and other CPU-bound jobs.
  • Gold ($145): 8 GB, 4 cores, 120 GB. The largest Malta plan.

The honest limit: 50 GB of transfer

Transfer does not grow with the plan. Gold has the same 50 GB as Jupiter, so moving up buys you memory, cores and storage, not traffic. A business site with text and compressed images will usually stay inside that figure. A media site or a download mirror will not. If your project is traffic-heavy, check the transfer figures on our other European locations and keep only the part that truly needs a Maltese address here.

Linux only in Valletta

This location is Linux only. Windows Server and MikroTik are not available in Malta. You can choose Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux or CentOS, and you log in over SSH with full root access.

With root you decide the whole stack: Nginx or Apache, a hosting control panel, Docker, a mail server or your own code. When an experiment goes wrong, you can reinstall the operating system or reboot the server from the client area yourself, without waiting on a ticket.

Why choose a VPS in Malta

Malta is a small island state in the Mediterranean, south of Sicily, and a member of the European Union. Valletta is the capital, and the official languages are Maltese and English. Running a virtual private server in Malta gives you a local IP address, which counts when a service checks where a server or visitor is located. It also keeps the network path short for users on the islands.

If your audience is spread across the wider Mediterranean, it is worth comparing nearby options such as our Italy VPS, our Cyprus VPS and our Greece VPS. You could also run the main site in one of those countries and a small Malta VPS for local visitors.
