Scotland VPS or England VPS?
A Scotland VPS and our England VPS both give you a UK IP address, because Scotland is part of the United Kingdom. The difference is where the hardware sits. Our Edinburgh servers are in the Scottish capital, so the route to users in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and the rest of Scotland is shorter. If your visitors are mostly in southern England, the England location is the natural choice. If they are north of the border, or spread across the whole of Great Britain, Edinburgh is a reasonable home.
Scotland is new to our network. We have offered hosting since 2010 and run VPS in 104 countries, with Edinburgh as one of our UK locations. Until ordering opens, the plan table on this page is all there is to see, so the sections below walk through it.
Plans from 512 MB to 4 GB
There are four plans, and the port speed climbs along with them. That is the main thing to notice in the table, more than the memory steps.
Jupiter and Mars: small and inexpensive
Jupiter costs $15 and gives you 512 MB of memory, 1 core, 10 GB of disk, a 50 Mbps port and 500 GB of transfer. It is a small machine, fine for a personal site, a DNS or VPN server, or a test environment, but 10 GB fills up quickly once you add a database and a few months of logs. Mars, at $35, keeps 1 core but doubles the rest: 1 GB of memory, 20 GB of disk, a 100 Mbps port and 1000 GB of transfer. For a first WordPress site, Mars is the more comfortable starting point.
Venus and Mercury: the 1 Gbps plans
From Venus upward the port moves to 1 Gbps. Venus ($71) has 2 GB of memory, 2 cores, 40 GB of disk and 2000 GB of transfer. Mercury ($119) has 4 GB, 4 cores, 60 GB and 4000 GB of transfer. If your project serves files, streams audio or has traffic spikes, these two are the plans to look at. Disk stays modest even here, so large archives are better kept elsewhere. Each plan includes one IP address.
Access and operating systems
Edinburgh is a Linux-only location. Windows Server and MikroTik are not offered for this VPS in Scotland. You can install Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux or CentOS, and you get full root access over SSH, so the server is configured the way you want from the first login.
- Install any software or control panel you like.
- Reinstall the operating system from the client area.
- Reboot the server from the client area without contacting us.
Resources are dedicated to your server, the hardware is enterprise-grade, and we monitor it against a 99.9% uptime target.
Who might host in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, and Glasgow is its largest city. English is spoken everywhere, alongside Scots and Scottish Gaelic. An Edinburgh VPS suits Scottish businesses that want their site served from nearby, developers who need a UK address outside London for testing, and anyone running a service for users across northern Britain, such as a booking system, a club website or a small SaaS tool.
With only a short hop across the sea, it can also work for visitors in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, though for an audience mainly in the Republic you may prefer our Ireland VPS.
Billing and help
Payment works with any cryptocurrency on any network: Bitcoin, USDT, USDC, Ethereum, TRON, BNB, Litecoin, Dogecoin and others. You can also pay with PayPal. Those are the two payment routes we offer, for Edinburgh and for our other locations alike.
Level-1 support is free and runs 24/7 through tickets, and live chat is on our website for quick questions.
